1. Purpose and Scope
This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP" or "Policy") governs your use of the Bookmarkjar bookmark management service ("Service"). This Policy is incorporated into and forms part of our Terms of Service.
By using the Service, you agree to:

- Use the Service in a lawful and responsible manner
- Respect the rights of other users and third parties
- Follow all applicable laws and regulations
Violations of this Policy may result in account suspension or termination without refund.
2. Prohibited Activities
2.1 Illegal Activities
You may not use the Service to engage in or promote:

- Money laundering, fraud, or financial crimes
- Identity theft or impersonation
- Child exploitation or abuse (zero tolerance - immediate termination)
- Terrorism, extremism, or violent criminal activity
- Sale or distribution of illegal drugs or controlled substances
- Trafficking of persons, weapons, or endangered species
Intellectual Property Violations:
- Copyright infringement (see our DMCA Policy)
- Trademark infringement or passing off
- Patent infringement
- Theft of trade secrets
- Circumventing digital rights management (DRM)
- Piracy or distribution of cracked software
Privacy Violations:
- Unauthorized collection of personal data (doxxing)
- Sharing others' private information without consent
- Stalking or harassment
- Voyeurism or non-consensual intimate content
2.2 Harmful or Abusive Behavior
You may not use the Service to:

2.3 Service Integrity and Security
You may not:
System Abuse:
- Attempt unauthorized access to our systems, servers, or networks
- Probe, scan, or test vulnerabilities without authorization
- Bypass authentication or security measures
- Access other users' accounts without permission
- Interfere with or disrupt Service operation
- Overwhelm our infrastructure (DoS/DDoS attacks)
Reverse Engineering:
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Service
- Extract source code or proprietary algorithms
- Create derivative works without authorization
- Remove or modify copyright notices or security features
Automation Abuse:
- Use bots, scrapers, or automated tools without authorization
- Create accounts through automated means
- Circumvent rate limits or usage restrictions
- Use the Service for cryptocurrency mining
- Employ the Service in automated trading or arbitrage systems
Account Violations:
- Share account credentials with others
- Create multiple accounts to evade restrictions or bans

2.4 Content Restrictions

- Contains child sexual abuse material (CSAM) - zero tolerance
Harmful Content:
- Contains graphic violence or gore (except news/educational context)
- Glorifies or encourages violence, terrorism, or self-harm
- Is hateful, discriminatory, or incites violence against protected groups
- Contains non-consensual intimate imagery
- Exploits or sexualizes minors in any way
Adult Content:
- Pornography or sexually explicit material
- Adult content involving minors (zero tolerance)
- Non-consensual sexual content
Misleading Content:
- Deliberate misinformation intended to cause harm
- Fraudulent schemes or scams
- Fake news designed to manipulate or deceive
- Impersonation or identity fraud
- Misleading medical or health information that could cause harm
Harmful Code:
- Malware, viruses, trojans, or worms
- Exploit code or hacking tools (unless for legitimate security research with authorization)
- Keyloggers, spyware, or surveillance software
- Command and control (C2) infrastructure
2.5 Third-Party Integration Abuse
When using integrations with Twitter/X, GitHub, Reddit, Instagram, or YouTube:
You Must:
- Comply with each platform's Terms of Service and policies
- Have proper authorization to access and sync content
- Respect rate limits and API restrictions
- Only sync content you have rights to access
You May Not:
- Scrape or bulk download content in violation of platform terms
- Use integrations to evade platform-specific bans or restrictions
- Abuse OAuth permissions or access tokens
- Sync content from accounts you don't own without permission
- Violate platform-specific content policies
- Use integrations for data mining or surveillance
2.6 AI Feature Abuse
When using AI-powered features (tagging, summarization, chat):
You May Not:
- Attempt to manipulate or "jailbreak" AI models
- Use AI features to generate illegal content
- Abuse AI features to generate spam or misleading content
- Reverse engineer AI model behavior for malicious purposes
- Use AI features in a way that violates OpenAI or Google AI policies
- Attempt to extract training data or proprietary information
- Use AI outputs to harm, harass, or deceive others
Remember:
- AI-generated content may be inaccurate - verify important information
- Do not rely on AI for medical, legal, or financial advice
- AI features are subject to usage limits based on your plan
2.7 API Abuse (Pro Plan)
If you have API access, you may not:
Commercial Violations:
- Resell or redistribute API access
- Use the API to create competing services
- Sublicense API access to third parties
- Use the API for services that harm our business interests
Technical Abuse:
- Exceed rate limits or attempt to circumvent them
- Make excessive requests that impact Service performance
- Use the API for unauthorized bulk operations
- Cache or store data in violation of our terms
- Use the API in ways not documented or authorized
Security Violations:
- Share or expose API keys publicly
- Use compromised or stolen API keys
- Attempt to access data beyond your authorization
- Use the API to probe for vulnerabilities
2.8 Resource Abuse
You may not:
- Use excessive storage or bandwidth that impacts other users
- Create an unreasonable number of bookmarks to abuse free tier
- Use the Service for backup or archival beyond normal use
- Host large files or media not related to bookmarks
- Use the Service as a CDN or file hosting service
- Engage in activities that generate excessive costs for us
3. Subscription and Payment Conduct
3.1 Free Plan Users
Free plan users must:
- Use the Service for personal, non-commercial purposes only
- Respect monthly limits (100 bookmarks/month, 1,000 lifetime)
- Not create multiple accounts to evade limits
- Not abuse the 7-day grace period
3.2 Pro Plan Users
Pro plan users must:
- Maintain valid payment information
- Not dispute legitimate charges (chargebacks for valid services may result in termination)
- Use API access responsibly within rate limits
- Not share Pro features with non-Pro users through workarounds
3.3 Payment Fraud
You may not:
- Use stolen credit cards or fraudulent payment methods
- Dispute valid charges to obtain free service
- Abuse trial periods or promotional offers
- Use VPNs or proxies to evade regional pricing
- Share payment methods across multiple accounts
4. Data and Privacy Conduct
4.1 Your Responsibilities
You are responsible for:
- Keeping your password secure and confidential
- All activity under your account
- Ensuring bookmarked content complies with this Policy
- Respecting privacy of content you sync from integrations
- Not sharing sensitive data that could harm others if leaked
4.2 Personal Data
You may not:
- Collect or store others' personal data without consent and legal basis
- Scrape contact information from third-party platforms
- Use the Service for surveillance or monitoring without authorization
- Share others' private information (doxxing)
- Use the Service to build databases of personal information
4.3 Data Export
You may:
- Export your own data at any time
- Use data export for backup or migration purposes
You may not:
- Export data to violate this Policy
- Use exported data for spam or harassment
- Share exported data containing others' private information
5. Enforcement and Consequences
5.1 Monitoring and Detection
We reserve the right to:
- Monitor usage for compliance with this Policy (automated and manual)
- Investigate suspected violations
- Use AI and automated systems to detect violations
- Review reported content and accounts
- Cooperate with law enforcement investigations
Note: We do not generally monitor private bookmarks, but we may investigate if we receive reports or detect automated abuse.
5.2 Enforcement Actions
Violations may result in:
Warning:
- First-time minor violations
- Email notification with explanation
- Opportunity to remedy the violation
Temporary Suspension:
- Repeated minor violations
- Moderate violations that can be remedied
- Duration: 7-30 days depending on severity
- Account access restored after review
Permanent Termination:
- Severe violations (illegal content, CSAM, violence)
- Repeated violations after warnings
- Security threats or hacking attempts
- Fraud or payment abuse
- No refund provided for paid subscriptions
Legal Action:
- Criminal activity will be reported to authorities
- Civil action for damages caused by violations
- Cooperation with law enforcement investigations
- DMCA counter-notifications for copyright claims
5.3 Appeal Process
If your account is suspended or terminated:
- Review the violation notice sent to your email

- Provide explanation and evidence if you believe the action was in error
- Wait for review (we will respond within 5 business days)
Note: We have final discretion on enforcement decisions. Decisions for severe violations (CSAM, violence, fraud) are typically final and non-appealable.
5.4 Data Deletion
Upon termination for violations:
- Your account will be immediately suspended
- You have 7 days to export your data (if violation is not severe)
- Data will be deleted after 30 days
- We may retain logs and evidence for legal purposes
For severe violations (CSAM, terrorism):
- Immediate termination with no data export period
- Evidence preserved for law enforcement
6. Reporting Violations
6.1 How to Report
If you encounter content or behavior that violates this Policy:

- Syncing bookmarks from your social media accounts
- Using API for personal productivity tools (Pro users)
- Sharing public bookmark collections
- Educational and research purposes (within legal bounds)
7.2 Prohibited Uses
Examples of violations:
- Saving pirated movies, software, or music
- Bookmarking phishing sites or malware
- Creating spam link collections
- Storing illegal content (CSAM, terrorist material)
- Using the Service to coordinate harassment campaigns
- Bulk scraping competitor websites
- Using API to create a competing bookmark service
- Abusing integrations to evade platform bans
- Creating multiple accounts to exceed free plan limits
8. Geographic and Legal Restrictions
8.1 Sanctions Compliance
We comply with EU and international sanctions. You may not use the Service if you are:
- Located in a country subject to EU or US sanctions
- Listed on any sanctioned persons or entities list
- Acting on behalf of a sanctioned entity
8.2 Age Restrictions
You must be 18 years or older to use the Service. If we discover users under 18, we will immediately terminate their accounts.
8.3 Export Controls
You may not use the Service to:
- Export data to sanctioned countries
- Facilitate export control violations
- Share technology subject to export restrictions
9. Changes to This Policy
9.1 Updates
We may update this Policy from time to time. When we make changes:
For Material Changes:

- "You" and "your": Refers to the user of the Service

- "Content": Bookmarks, URLs, metadata, and user-generated data
This Policy applies to all users regardless of subscription tier (Free or Pro).
